Who Makes Preferred Gardens?
Preferred Gardens is a family-owned, legacy cannabis brand founded by master cultivator David Polley in 2015, with cultivation roots stretching back to 2005. Based in Sacramento, California, the brand operates without external investors, remaining independent and focused entirely on their craft.
What sets them apart is their unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. They specialize in large-scale, mixed-light greenhouse production and indoor cultivation, blending natural sunlight with supplemental lighting to produce premium, terpene-rich flower. Every strain in their library of over 260 varieties has been bred or pheno-hunted from seed, never purchased from nurseries. This hands-on approach reflects David’s genuine love for the plant and his obsession with serving the cannabis community with excellence.
What Is Preferred Gardens Known For?
Preferred Gardens is known for bold terpene expression, striking visual appeal, and award-winning strain development that balances potency with flavor. The brand has earned significant recognition in the cannabis industry, including a Rookie of the Year award at the 2025 Billy Awards in NYC for their standout strain D-Lish, and the prestigious title of Best Z Strain after winning the Proper Doinks High Rollers Z Bracket competition with a $60,000 grand prize.
Their reputation rests on meticulous pheno-hunting, precision breeding, and an unwavering focus on quality control and consistency. Each strain reflects David’s philosophy of craft cannabis excellence, delivering distinctive character in every harvest. Whether you are seeking creative uplifts or deep relaxation, Preferred Gardens crafts genetics with intention and expertise. They also offer solventless extracts and pre-rolls made from premium flower, no shake or trim.
What Preferred Gardens Products Can You Get in Batavia?
At Mrs. Green’s CANNAry, we carry Preferred Gardens flower in 3.5g formats. Right now, you can find two exceptional strains on our shelves that showcase the brand’s signature approach to cultivation and strain development.
Glacier is an indica-dominant hybrid that delivers exactly what its name promises. This strain crosses Permanent Marker with Lazer Gun, creating a cultivar with a stunning, frosty appearance and a distinctive profile of sweet-diesel inhale and zesty citrus exhale. Lab results typically show 28-34% THC with trace CBD, landing in a relaxed, calm, and body-forward experience that pairs well with evening unwinding.
Lazer Gun is a hybrid born from Georgia Pie x Z genetics, known for a candy and minty infusion upfront with underlying earthy gas and sweet cherry notes. Reviewers consistently praise it as one of the most resinous flowers they have encountered, with a well-balanced flavor profile that smokes exceptionally clean. The effects are euphoric and focused, making it a strong daytime or anytime selection.
Both strains represent the quality, consistency, and distinctive terpene expression that define Preferred Gardens. Stop by Mrs. Green’s CANNAry to explore them in person and discover why this brand is earning respect across the country.
