We’re excited to bring you Voice of the Plant, a cannabis brand rooted in legendary genetics and global culture. Founded by Mario Guzman, known throughout the industry as Mr. Sherbinski, VOP honors the plant’s history while celebrating the art, music, and science behind world-class cannabis. When you reach for VOP at Mrs. Green’s CANNAry, you’re choosing from some of the most iconic and respected strains in the legal market.
Who Makes VOP?
Voice of the Plant (VOP) was founded by Mario Guzman, known as “Sherbinski,” and Victorine Deych-Guzman. Mario Guzman is a world-renowned cannabis breeder known for the cultivation and development of the Gelato strain, one of the most celebrated varieties in cannabis history.
Guzman founded the retail cannabis brand Sherbinskis in 2015 after creating Sherbert (Girl Scout Cookies x Pink Panties) in 2012 and Gelato (Sunset Sherbert x Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies) in 2014. Rooted in San Francisco, California, he began sharing his love for cannabis to create a narrative around its medicinal attributes and to share his respect for the plant’s alchemy. Guzman pioneered the entire Gelato lineage, including Bacio (Gelato 41), Mochi, Gello, and Acai Berry, as well as cultivars like Pink Panties and Sunset Sherbert.
VOP, short for Voice of the Plant, is a brand and creative movement that fuses music, plant medicine, and cultural storytelling. Voice of the Plant exists to clearly separate the stewardship of these genetics from misuse of branding, and to affirm that the plant, its history, and its originators are not to be disrespected.
What Is VOP Known For?
Sherbinski is known globally as the creator of Gelato and one of the most influential figures in modern cannabis genetics. Mario Guzman introduced Sherbert and later Gelato, cultivars that emphasized a different terpene balance and a creamier, fruit-forward profile. That shift reshaped consumer demand and influenced product development across the legal market. Today, “dessert strains” dominate menus nationwide, a movement that traces directly to Sherbinski’s vision.
His most notable strains have been name-dropped in over 300 hip hop songs, and Voice of the Plant is led by Mario Guzman (Sherbinski) and Victorine Deych Guzman (Dusted) as a platform that celebrates culture, genetics, and plant medicine. VOP is more than just a movement, it’s a global force that celebrates art, genetics, food, and music. The VOP genetic lineup includes Mario’s legendary Gelato, Sunset, Sherbert, and the ‘New’ lineage.
